All out-patient visitors are asked to come to the general check-in area. Ask any of the floor managers wearing a dark blue jacket or vest for assistance.

FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS

THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH, LABOUR AND WELFARE REQUIRES FIRST TIME VISITORS TO BRING A DOCTOR’S LETTER OF REFERRAL FROM A CLINIC OR OTHER MEDICAL FACILITY WHEN SEEKING MEDICAL ATTENTION AT LARGE HOSPITALS. THOSE WITHOUT A REFERRAL MUST PAY AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF 2,620 YEN (TAX INCLUDED). THIS FEE IS NOT COVERED BY YOUR INSURANCE.

WHAT IS THIS SPECIAL FEE?

SINCE APRIL, 1996 (HEISEI 8) AN AMENDMENT WAS MADE TO THE HEALTH INSURANCE ACT REQUIRING HOSPITALS WITH 200 PLUS BEDS TO CHARGE AN EXTRA FEE UNDER THE “HASSHIN NI KANSURU HOKENGAIHEIYOURYOUYOUHISEIDOU” (ROUGHLY TRANSLATED: FEE FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT NOT COVERED BY HEALTH INSURANCE FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS). IN COMPLIANCE WITH THIS CHANGE, SAISEIKAI HOSPITAL ADDS THIS FEE TO ANYONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE A LETTER OF REFERRAL FROM A SMALLER HOSPITAL, CLINIC OR OTHER MEDICAL FACILITY.

THE FOLLOWING ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS FEE:

• THOSE WITH A LETTER OF REFERRAL FROM ANOTHER MEDICAL INSTITUTION
• THOSE NEEDING EMERGENCY CARE (CAME BY AMBULANCE)
• THOSE RECEIVING ASSISTANCE UNDER THE LIVELIHOOD PROTECTION LAW
• THOSE RECEIVING SPECIAL PENSION/ASSISTANCE FOR CERTAIN ILLNESSES OR DISABILITIES

PAYING YOUR MEDICAL BILL

There are automated machines near the accounting counter where you can pay your bills. You can also go directly to the accounting counter to pay your bill.

HOURS (Monday-Friday) 8:30-17:15

After 17:15, you can pay your bill at the after-hour service counter.

PHARMACY

Patients who need their prescription filled must go to a pharmacist outside the hospital. You can ask for more information at the Fax Corner located next to our in-house pharmacist.

YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE DOES NOT APPLY -

1. 1.When you do not bring your insurance card
2. 2.When you have an injury as a third party (for example, in a car accident)
3. 3.For on the job injuries(including injuries enroute to/from work)
4. 4.For an annual check-up (or) for a thorough medical examination (known as a “ningen dock”)
5. 5.For normal pregnancies and birth

Let us know of any changes (name, address, insurance)
Bring your Saiseikai Hospital ID card every time you visit our hospital

We will always have several physicians here after regular operating hours for emergency situations. If you are experiencing any sudden changes in your medical condition, call us immediately.

There is no guarantee that an interpreter or an English-speaking physician will be available at that time.
